Emergency Response Teams for Critical Water and Wastewater Infrastructure

It's not a matter of "if", it's a matter of "when". We need to be better prepared.

Emergency Response Teams for Critical Water and Wastewater Infrastructure
Burnaby BC: Since 1966, the non-profit organization, the Environmental Operators Certification Program (EOCP) has been classifying water and wastewater facilities and certifying Environmental Operators to ensure that more than five million people in British Columbia and Yukon have access to safe drinking water and wastewater management.
The events of the past few years have shown that we are inadequately prepared to deal with the severity and frequency of disasters such as floods and fires. When it comes to emergency response and critical water and wastewater infrastructure, we can be reactive, or we can be proactive.
It's not a matter of "if", it's a matter of "when".
Let's learn
Let's adapt
Let's act now.
Being proactive results in:
1. Reduced risk to workers
2. Less damage to infrastructure
3. Faster resumption of water and wastewater services so that people can come back to their home and their community
We urge our Provincial Government to take action to support Emergency Response Teams specifically for critical water and wastewater infrastructure, so that when calamity strikes, we are better prepared. Please review this video: https://tinyurl.com/EOCP-ERT
